Sale of GV Instruments Thermal Ionisation
Mass Spectrometer Business to IsotopX Ltd
Following an inquiry by the U.K. Competition Commission, Thermo Fisher Scientific has sold the Thermal Ionisation Mass Spectrometer (TIMS) business from GV Instruments Ltd (a wholly owned subsidiary of Thermo Fisher Scientific) to IsotopX Ltd. The Competition Commission ratified the sale on February 1st 2008.
IsotopX Ltd is a management buyout team led by Dr. Zenon Palacz and Mr. Mark Yardley. Dr. Palacz has worked with TIMS for over 25 years, both as an academic (isotope geochemist) and in a variety of industrial roles with VG Isotopes/Isotech, Micromass and GV Instruments Ltd. Mark Yardley has 20 years experience in the manufacturing and operations management in the field of Scientific Instrumentation.
A majority of the IsotopX Ltd team have at least 17 years experience working in TIMS.
IsotopX Ltd is dedicated to the design and manufacture of TIMS instruments, with sales throughout the world in the Nuclear and Geological market. The IsoProbe-T mass spectrometer produced by GV instruments will now be manufactured, serviced and developed by IsotopX Ltd at our new manufacturing facility in Middlewich, UK.
USA and Far East regions will have dedicated local support offices.
In addition IsotopX Ltd will provide a complete service solution for earlier generations of TIMS instruments originally supplied by the VG / Micromass / GV companies.
